Dr. Lisa Heath
Veterinarian
Dr. Lisa Heath graduated from University of Illinois with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. Immediately upon graduation, she went to University of Michigan for a 3-year residency in laboratory animal medicine, to specialize in the care and welfare of research animals. She has held roles in biotech and academic institutions with many different animal species, as well as small animal practices with dogs, cats and other animals. Dr. Heath enjoys teaching, and has taught courses in a veterinary technician college.
In addition to medicine and urgent care, Dr. Heath has a special interest in animal behavior, behavior modification and training. She is a certified professional by Fear Free, an organization which focuses on animal well-being, reducing or eliminating fear, anxiety and stress during veterinary visits. Dr. Heath promotes cooperative care, and encourages interested owners to train pets to participate willingly in grooming and medical care. She can help owners connect with behavior and training resources.
In her spare time, Dr. Heath rides and trains Icelandic horses, shows and trains dogs, and enjoys ballroom dancing with her husband.
